Haputale is a town of Badulla in the Uva province and is an area of mesmerizing views. This is the hiker’s ultimate destination. With hills, waterfalls, long hikes and tons of tea.

Haputale is an area surrounded by hills which covered with cloud forests and tea plantations. And it is the coldest part of Uva and most certainly the most scenic. This place is jam packed with high moutains that offer a magnificent view of everything around from the top.

It is credited as the second tallest waterfall in srilanka. You have to take a hike to actually get to the scenic waterfall. And once you do, you can actually swim and play in the small pools of this majestic water fall.

A current monastery in a former manor. The gardens are tastefully decorated. The part of the manor which is open to the public contains beautiful antiques. There is also a shop where you can get jams, tea and cordials which taste amazing. I highly recommend the bitter orange marmalade.

Lipton’s Seat Lipton’s Seat

It is at the peak of a steep hill. The road is set across scenic tea fields and you can hike or take a three-wheeler to get to the top. The views from the top are astounding. You can also take a selfie with Sir Thomas Lipton.

Bambarakanda Falls Bambarakanda Falls

The tallest waterfall in Sri Lanka. You have to walk through forests, stairs and other obstacles to reach this marvel of nature. Once you reach the falls you are rewarded with a dip in its little pools.

Lanka Ella Falls Lanka Ella Falls

About 1 km away from bamnarakanda falls and it is only accessible by foot. It is slightly smaller than bambarakanda but just as beautiful. It also a great place for a dip.

Wangedigala Wangedigala

Its name means pestle rock. It is yet another thrilling hiking spot which is also a great camping spot which is filled with adventure, slippery uphill climbs, beautiful scenery, amazing flora and LEECHES!
