This is a historical place for Buddhists. It is a grand building which was built to house an actual tooth relic of Lord Buddha. There are also museums worth a visit full of historic items like antiques, old coins and old Perahera items like the taxidermy elephants most notably “raja atha”.
The statue is located high up on a hill. At the end of the winding road, you are greeted by the gigantic white statue and the view of the Kandy city from this place are stunning.
Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage, is an orphanage, nursery and captive breeding ground for wild Asian elephants located at Pinnawala village, 13 km northeast of Kegalle town in Sabaragamuwa Province of Sri Lanka. Pinnawala has the largest herd of captive elephants in the world.
A peaceful shady garden full of indigenous Sri Lankan Spices and Herbs. It is a great educational experience because you get to taste some of the fruits and spices and know a lot about them.

This is a Buddhist temple and renowned for its architecture and historic importance. Ruins of some small buildings and stone tablets can be seen scattered around the site. Since this temple is situated on hill, a great view of the beautiful paddy fields below can be seen.
A nice quiet place for a hike. Wild animals like Wild deer, wild boar, Jungle fowls, hornbills and some other seasonal birds can be seen. Ask for a map and happy hiking for you but Watch out for the LEECHES!
This place is in Hanthana Kandy with a collection of historical artifacts related to the history of tea industry of Sri Lanka. The building was said to be built by James Taylor and Thomas Lipton in the 1860’s but now has been restored and modernized.
A well maintained botanical garden which features tons of plant species which are local and foreign. Tons of space to walk around and play also you can book a golf cart for a tour around the whole botanical garden. It is famous for its orchid collection.
It’s also known as potato range duet the resemblance in shape. It is a great hiking experience of about 5 hours with great viewpoints throughout the journey. There is also a beat up temple along the way to the top.
