Minneriya national park is located in the North Central Province of Sri Lanka.and it is in to known for its elephant population during season. This National park spans almost 8,889.4 Hectares and it is in the dry zone of Sri Lanka. It was declared a national park to protect the catchment of Minneriya tank and the wildlife of the surrounding area.
This park is famed for its elephant population especially during the dry season because they are attracted to grass fields on the edges of the reservoir during the dry season and also The Mannerly tank can sustain a large herd.
