Udawalwa is a National park that lies in the Uva province and the Sabaragamu province of Sri Lanka. The national park was created to provide a sanctuary for wild animals who lost their habitat due to the construction of the Udawalawe Reservoir it covers about 38000 hectares.

This park has a known for its climate variations because it is the park falls under the dry zone and the wet zone with the predominance of plains but mountainous areas can be observed.

Even though it is famous for its varying climates, it is also important because of the huge Elephant population due to the Udawalwa Reservoir. It is also filled with other mammals like the rusty-spotted cat,the fishing cat, the Sri Lankan leopard,the Golden jackal,deer and the Srilankan black bear with birds like the Sri Lanka spurfowl, the red-faced malkoha, the Sri Lanka grey hornbill and the brown-capped babbler and 30 species of snakes and endemic lizard species.
